

Associate Professor of Public International Law and European Law and Director of the European Documentation Centre-Europe Direct Centre at the University of Salamanca, Dr. González Alonso is a Graduate in European Legal Studies by the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). He got his PhD at the University of Salamanca in 1997.
He has extensively published on EU law and, over the last decade, he has led three research projects on the external action of the European Union with the financial support of the Spanish National Research Program.
Dr. González Alonso currently holds the position of Executive Editor of the Revista General de Derecho Europeo and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Revista de Derecho Comunitario Europeo. Previously, he was a member of the Steering Committee of the Spanish Association of Professors of International Law and International Relations (2003-2007) and of the International Cooperation Council of Castilla y León (2001-2010). Likewise, he was the first Director of the International Development Cooperation Office of the University of Salamanca (2007-2010).
He has been visiting professor at many Spanish Universities (Autónoma, Complutense and Carlos III in Madrid, Granada, La Coruña, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Oviedo…) and foreign academic institutions (Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Grenoble, France; Judicial Academy (Hungary); NationalUniversity of Colombia (Bogota); National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (Leon), Northern Catholic University (Chile) etc. In 2011 he was visiting fellow at the
